They say the apple doesn’t fall from the tree, and the APHA Breeders’ Trust top-earners rankings for 2015 certainly reflect that notion. Zippos Sensation ruled the roost as the Breeders’ Trust Leading Sire for the 15th consecutive year; his son, Nighttime Sensation, took the lead as the 2015 Breeders’ Trust Top-Earning Horse.
Top Earner: Nighttime Sensation
2003 black overo gelding by Zippos Sensation and out of Bunny’s Crisis (TB)
Owner: Christine Weiser, Meridian, Idaho
Breeder: Lynn and Andrea Simons, Aubrey, Texas
A 2005 black overo gelding by Zippos Sensation and out of Bunny’s Crisis (TB), Nighttime Sensation was nominated to the Breeders’ Trust by his breeders, Lynn and Andrea Simons of Aubrey, Texas. In 2015, “Cole” earned 897 points with Christine Weiser, netting his connections more than $7,000.

Zippos Sensation topped the Breeders’ Trust Leading Sires list once again; he’s reined supreme since 2001. In 2015, “Zippo” had 130 offspring amass 6,830 eligible points, yielding total Breeders’ Trust earnings of $52,207. That amounts to average earnings per foal of more than $400.

Rising to the Top
One of the Breeders’ Trust most noteworthy tidbits for 2015 is its increase in per-point value, coming in at $7.85, a .5 percent increase over 2014 values.
