2016 IHSA National Championships to Feature USEF Careers Fair, Derby Hat Contest, Daily Special Receptions
Press Release
Fairfield, CT (January 28, 2016) The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) and its national horse show organizers Erin Lecompt and Bill Yeager have announced that the 44th IHSA National Championships, free and open to the public May 5-8 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, will feature a Careers Fair hosted by USEF on that Friday.
The USEF will also join intercollegiate supporters AQHA, NRHA and USHJA in hosting a daily reception during the championships. A USHJA welcome reception is planned Thursday after the show. USEF will sponsor a reception with raffles and prizes following Friday’s USEF Careers Fair. Weekend brunches are also tentatively scheduled, underwritten by Western division sponsors AQHA and NRHA.
In keeping with the show’s “first Saturday in May” tradition, coinciding with Thoroughbred racing’s run for the roses at the Kentucky Derby, the IHSA Alumni Association, headed by Megan Taylor, will sponsor a Derby Hat Contest on Saturday, May 7.
Sponsorship opportunities with the IHSA National Championships and/or IHSA 50th Golden Anniversary special events are still available, starting at just $150 to sponsor an IHSA National Championship class. Call toll-free (844)307-4472. The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, which first hosted IHSA National Championships in 1985, will host the next two championships: May 5-8, 2016 and May 4-7, 2017.
IHSA promotes competition for riders of all skill levels, who compete individually and as teams at regional to national levels, based on the principle that any college student should be able to participate in horse shows regardless of financial status or riding level.
