Top Horses of 2011 Announced for the APHA Breeders’ Trust Program
Press Release
FORT WORTH, Texas—The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) announced the 2011 leaders of its Breeders’ Trust program. Enrolled horses earn money at the end of the year for points earned in show competition.
For over a decade, Zippos Sensation has held the top spot as the #1 sire by Breeders’ Trust foal earnings. In 2011, 120 of his foals earned a total of $88,883. Of the 7,679 points earned by his offspring this year, Nighttime Sensation earned the most with 645 points for a payout of $7,465. Zippos Sensation is a 1993 sorrel overo stallion owned by Simons Show Horses, LLC of Aubrey, Texas. He currently has 575 foals nominated to the Breeders’ Trust program.
The top-earning Breeders’ Trust horse for 2011—and for the second year in a row—was Timeless Assets, who earned 1,749 points for a payout of $20,244. Timeless Assets is a 2005 bay overo gelding sired by Frozen Assets and out of This Times Divine. He is owned by Coleen Bull of Reed City, Michigan.
“When I started counting up points and comparing to last year, I began to think, ‘Well, maybe we did it again,’” Coleen said about winning it for the second year. “The Breeders’ Trust is like icing on the cake. I’m going to show anyway, so getting some money back at the end of it is just amazing. I don’t know why anybody who is going to show wouldn’t want a Breeders’ Trust horse.”
The 2011 incentive program paid out $859,649 to participating horse owners, foal nominators and stallion subscribers. Nominated horses received $11.57 for every qualifying Open and Amateur point they earned during 2011. Over the last ten years, $10,505,391 has been paid out to participants of the program.
