#RideLikeClint Brings Out The Best Of The Industry
On Friday night at the Tom Powers our industry brought out their best. Their best and most broke horses, the best of the riders and trainers, the best horseman and women and the best hearts you could ever hope to know.
When a cowboy or his family are in a time of need you can count on a hat being passed and fellow horseman pulling together to do some good. Tonight was a unique version of a passing of the hat. A bridle-less western pleasure class was organized at the show by Ashley Lakins to benefit Alana Collingsworth after suddenly losing her husband, horseman Clint Collingsworth earlier this month.
Before the horses took to the rail a stunning 14K gold necklace of the #RideLikeClint logo was auctioned off to benefit the NSBA Crisis Fund in Clint’s memory. Created and donated by Hannah and Ronnie Casper, this stunning necklace was purchased by Dennis Martin.
Eight special horse and rider teams ventured to the pen bridle-less and some even saddleless to #RideLikeClint in a special class which included a Calcutta auction to raise funds. For those unable to ride in the class, #RideLikeClint tee shirts and hats were available for donation to show your support as well. Over $19,000 was raised for Alana by this special event.
The class was stunning, and the quality of the riders and horses was undeniable, but the true highlight of the evening was the community spirit of our industry gathering to do something special in memory of a friend, a colleague and fellow horseman. We even laughed as a community as Julian’s horse managed to graze and trot at the same time.
Winning the class was Pat Heeley on Huntin For Certain with Ashley Lakins taking the reserve on VS Code Me Lucky. The true winners of the evening though were all in attendance as we felt the love for Alana and witnessed the powerful good that can be accomplished when we come together.
I am confident Clint was smiling down on this evening knowing that the people and industry he loved have his back and are going to support and take care of his family.
