Tom Powers Maiden Stakes Co-Champions Crowned
It was a very competitive class of 18 shown at the Triple Challenge Futurity Maiden 2 YO Stakes. Horse competing in the prestigious class for a total purse of $65,000 were graduates of the 2016 yearling sale at the Tom Powers show. The class was very deep with all of the biggest names in the industry mounted on some of the best bred 2 year olds in the Nation. In the end, we had a tie in the open divisions, and saw Co-champions crowned. Erin Lieurance (showing for Jeff Cochran) and Live N It Up by young sire Red White N Good split the $35,000 purse with Jay Starnes and Why Dont U Kiss This – by Kissing The Girls owned by Becky Crider. Lieurance received the $3000 Harris Challenge bonus for riding to her win in a Harris saddle. Lieurance was declared the winner under the tie breaker judge and takes home the beautiful and coveted Alan Parker memorial bronze.
The Limited division check for $10,000 was won by Ricky Noiseux on the very pretty mare Maybeline owned by Michael Rapp. Noiseux was also riding in a Harris saddle and took home a $1000 bonus from the Harris Challenge. Reserve champion was a gorgeous bay names NoDoubtImAChipmunk owned by Jean Ann Jordan and shown by Jamie Murrow who took home a check for $3,500
