Returning to Zone 1 for the third year, the Northwest Paint Horse Championships welcomed fresh faces with open arms and celebrated the achievements of regional exhibitors.
Exhibitors from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana traveled to Albany, Oregon, August 11–14 to compete at the Northwest Paint Horse Championships, held in conjunction with the Zone 1 Show. Show manager Tammie Whitt says she has seen the benefits of the Paint Horse Championship program.
“Exhibitors really like the Northwest Championship classes. It adds a higher level in recognition to the show, and encourages people fairly new to APHA to try something new; the overall feedback was very positive,” Tammie said. “Zone One numbers were up substantially in both numbers of horses and goes per judge from 2015. We tried some new things this year, and the exhibitors really responded favorably.”
