Farnam All-Around Amateur Crowned

During the past two weeks, the top exhibitors and horses from around the world competed at the 2016 Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. The 2016 Farnam All-Around Amateur Award is presented to the exhibitor and horse team that earns the most points in three or more Level 3 amateur events in three categories during the show. This year, 13 contenders qualified to compete for the title.

Julie Cole of Burlington Flats, New York, was crowned the 2016 Farnam All-Around Amateur. Cole showed her American Quarter Horse, Size Matters. The 2005 sorrel gelding, who is by Natural Iron and out of Bostons Black Pearl, was bred by Christine Davis of Bainbridge, New York.

Cole is the first back-to-back Farnam All-Around Amateur since her trainer, Karen Evans Mundy, achieved that honor in 2003 with Ask Me For Details. Mundy then went on to win the title for the third year in a row in 2004. Cole is also the first all-around amateur to win the title under a trainer who won the all-around amateur title during that trainer’s amateur career. Mundy won the AQHA World Show all-around title a record eight times during her amateur career.
