Canadians converged on Ponoka, Alberta, August 4–7 for the Western Canadian Paint Horse Championship and Zone 10 show. With strong turnout in many championship classes, exhibitors in 15 specially selected classes walked away with Gist Silversmiths championship buckles and others took home customized medallions for top placings, courtesy of APHA.
To be eligible for the Western Canadian Paint Horse Championship, exhibitors and horse owners must reside in Zone 10—which includes Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the Yukon and Northwest Territories—and meet other eligibility requirements. APHA sponsored awards for up to 15 Paint Horse Championship classes, with the show selecting the specific events to offer.
“With 15 classes offered and 112 entries over the course of the show, APHA’s championship class program was a huge success and a fantastic addition to the Zone 10 Show,” Zone 10 President Ronni Nordal said.
