It was a busy day at the James B. Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina, as the Little Futurity completed its final day of classes. Highlights of the day included the Heart Of Stone Western Pleasure fundraising class, and the NSBA Little Futurity Non-Pro 3 & Older $7,500 Limited Horse Western Pleasure.
Hillary Roberts Wins Non-Pro Slot Class
Hillary Roberts and Scoot Over (seen at left) scooted over to the first place spot in front of all four judges in the NSBA Little Futurity Non-Pro 3 & Over $7,500 Limited Horse Western Pleasure Slot Class, earning a $9,248 pay check for Capital Quarter Horses LLC.
“We call her Molly,” Hillary said of her three year old mare by RL Best Of Sudden. “Everything is just so natural and effortless for her. You ask for it, and it just happens. She does an incredible job for a three year old horse.”
The remaining places in the top ten of the class included:
Second – Extremely Good Stuff, Nancy Wilkerson-Ditty, $7,344
Third – The Born Legacy, Sharnai Thompson, $5440
Fourth – RR A Moonlite Stroll, Liz Long, $2,720
Fifth – Certainly Classie, Susan Scott, $2,448

Seventh – Iresistable Touch, Jamie Oakley
Eighth – My Daddys Lazy, Lindsay Stevenson
Ninth/Tenth tie – VS Code Me Lucky, Melissa Wilkes
Ninth/Tenth tie – Suddenly A Cowgirl, Steve Niblett
Heart Of Stone Brings Horsemen Together
One of the other special moments of the Little Futurity was when horsemen and women came together to ride in a Western Pleasure class to benefit the Heart Of Stone Foundation, established by Shane and Holt Pope in memory of their son, Stone.
Cleve Wells showed Cool Poco Dot to the win, but the funds raised for the foundation were the really winners. “It is such a good cause,” Cleve said. “It means a lot to be able to show in the class because we are all a big family. It’s one of those moments you remember years from now.” (They are pictured at right)
Deanna Green was the highest placing Youth, while Kari Craft was the highest placing Amateur in the class, earning special awards. Each exhibitor received a t-shirt, and top ten places received a special Heart Of Stone electric box fan.
