Perfecting your moves for the APHA World Show’s pattern classes just got a whole lot easier—the 2015 APHA Open and Amateur World Championship Show patterns are now available!
This year’s patterns are presented by HorseShowPatterns.com, and will also be accessible via the World Show website. A Plus membership to HorseShowPatterns.com is not required to access the patterns. Printed pattern books will also be available in the APHA Horse Show Office at the Will Rogers Memorial Center.
APHA World Show action takes place in Fort Worth, Texas, November 4–14. Get a leg up on the competition by attending the Ride the Pattern seminar Tuesday, November 3 from 4-6:30 p.m. in the John Justin Arena. A World Show judge will walk through the horsemanship, equitation and showmanship patterns with volunteer demo riders, offering opinions and recommendations for pattern perfection as well as answer exhibitors’ questions.
The Paint Horse Journal will be live tweeting from the event. Follow along at @worldshow. A Twitter account is not required to view the tweets, and we’ll have a recap posted on apha.com/oawcs.
Amateurs—especially first-timers and those attending the show without a trainer—are invited to take part in our Amateur World Show Boot Camp clinic on November 3 from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. in the Watt Arena. Limited to 25 riders, volunteer trainers will help clinic participants practice their pattern class moves and offer helpful tips and tricks. Cost is $50 per participant.
The Journal’s 12-part series The Game Plan also covered these challenging pattern classes. Catch up on Horsemanship and Equitation in the June 2014 issue, and showmanship in March 2014. Purchase the entire Game Plan series, featuring tips from judges and trainers, as a convenient e-book digital download from the APHA General Store for only $10, and check out more thoughts from APHA judges on our YouTube channel, APHAvideo.
