Over Fence, Ranch Riding Champions Named on First Day of NSBA World Championship Show

The NSBA World Championship Show jumped into its first classes on Sunday with over fence and Ranch Riding classes in the Ford Truck Arena at Built Ford Touch Complex in Tulsa, OK. A change to the show schedule brought the fence classes from the end of the show in previous years to the front of the show, and exhibitors responded with  a 12 percent increase in entries. Ranch Riding also saw a 30 percent increase in entries in the Open and Non-Pro divisions.

Ryan Painter and Kammanyawannadance earned two world champion titles for owner Peyton Bivens, including the first class of the show, the Working Hunter Derby and Open Working Hunter. Jerry Erickson piloted Real Time Minute to the reserve title in the Derby, with My Secret Past and Jessica Johnson earning the reserve title in Open Working Hunter for Abigail Hardy.

“He was excellent today,” Painter said of the gelding known as Collin. “He’s one of my favorite horses, He’s honest and just a trusty horse. I usually end up showing him three times a year at the NSBA World, the Redbud Spectacular and the Congress. He’s very special.”

Painter returned to win a third NSBA world championship title, this time with Im Seein Double/See My Double, an AQHA and APHA double registered gelding. “Last night was the first time I ever rode him,” Painter said. “He was pretty easy. He’s so good minded and happy to do his job. This is his first big show, and only his second time to show. He was very good, and I’m very pleased with him.”
