No. 4 Auburn set to host No. 5 Georgia
Press Release
AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 4 Auburn Equestrian returns to action against SEC rival No. 5 Georgia on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at the Auburn University Horse Center.
The Tigers are coming off a strong 14-6 win in their spring season opener against then-No. 5 SMU to move to 4-3 (1-2 SEC) on the season. Auburn defeated the Mustangs, 8-2, in Hunt Seat while senior Demi Stiegler (Fences), Elizabeth Benson (Flat), Hailey Munger (Reining) and Griffin Knight (Horsemanship) were all named MOPs.
“Georgia is not only a close SEC rival for us, they have always been a close run in our National Championship races as well,” head coach Greg Williams said. “We had a poor outing at Georgia in the fall so we are hoping that we will ride more up to our standards Saturday. I really like the way Coach (Jessica) Braswell and Coach (Katherine) Berg are running practices the past two weeks and the way the girls are performing in them. We right now, have most everyone healthy so we will be ready to go hard Saturday.”
Competing for the Tigers in Equitation over Fences will be Stiegler, Benson, junior Megan Bifano, sophomore Ashley Foster and freshman Halie Robinson. Rounding out the Hunt seat competition, Equitation on the Flat will include Benson, Foster, Stiegler, senior Jennifer Delman and sophomore Tory Hoft.
Auburn’s western lineup will feature seniors Katie Buff and Lucy Igoe, juniors Griffin Knight and Hannah Loseke, and sophomore Hannah Stephens in Horsemanship. Knight and Munger will join senior Katsy Leeman, junior Allie Dusha and freshman Alexa Rivard in Reining.
