Congress Super Sale Stronger than Last Year
Press Release
“The 2014 Congress Super Sale, presented by Kaplow Insurance, showed a stronger market over the 2013 Sale,” according to Mike Jennings of Professional Horse Services, LLC. “This year the Super Sale posted a higher sale average and median price, as well as the price for the High Seller.”
The High Seller, at $55,000, was Im Fancy Schmancy, a 2013 brown filly, sired by Batt Man and out of Ima Fancy Version. The filly was consigned by Cool Winds Farm, Agent for Kimberly Haines, Ohio, and sold to Jeri Lockwood from Colorado. Tom Forehand was the agent for the buyer.
The Leading Consignor Award was earned by Cedar Creek Quarter Horses, LLC of Fredericktown, Ohio with total sales of $101,000. The farm is owned by Don and Laura Rogers and is managed by Gary Trubee. The Award is a pair of beautiful wool coolers sponsored by The Clothes Horse, of Cinnaminson, NJ.
The High Selling Performance Horse and Gelding was Charleys Dream at $20,000. Consigned by long-time Congress seller, Jerry Powers, the bay roan gelding will make his new home in Canada with Barb Downer.
The average price of $6,840 was 21.73% higher than the 2013 average price of $5,619. The median price of $5,500 was 25% higher than last year. Even though the 2014 auction offered 18% fewer horses, the gross sales figure of $820,800 was less than 1% below the $826,000 posted in 2013. The price of the high seller, at $55,000, improved by 66% over the 2013 high seller at $33,000.
The 48th Congress Super Sale is offered by the Ohio Quarter Horse Association as a part of the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio. Mike and Stephanie Jennings of Professional Horse Services, LLC, in Round Hill, VA provide management services for the auction.
