2014 Farnam Breeders’ Trust Select Sale catalog now available online
Whether you’re a veteran horse sale guru or attending your very first auction, understanding the Farnam Breeders’ Trust Select Sale isn’t rocket science. We want you to make the most of your experience, and with the 2014 sale catalog now available online, you can be ready and waiting when the auctioneer starts his chatter.
Consigning a young horse in the Yearling Stakes Session is the only way to make it eligible to compete in future Farnam Stakes Classes, and there’s still time to get your young Paint in the sale. APHA Director of Breeders’ Trust Steven Imhof can get you all the information you need—contact him today at (817) 222-6441 or [email protected].
Steven offers these nine tips to make the most of your sale experience.
- Start with the sale catalog. Download a PDF of the catalog from the World Show website before it’s available in print at the show.
- Catalogs can be mailed to you before the show, or you can pick one up at the MemberCare booth at the World Show. The booth will also have the most up-to-date information about the sale, including tidbits not included in the catalog.
- Read the Special Notices, Important Reminders, Settlement Procedures and Conditions of the Sale listed in the front of the sale catalog. Get any questions answered before the sale by contacting Steven at [email protected].
- To get a buyer’s number, you will need to register on sale day, November 9. You just need a valid driver’s license or state-issued identification and funds to pay for your purchase. Payment must be made in U.S. dollars by cash, certified check, money order, personal check or traveler’s check. MasterCard, Visa and American Express are accepted, but a 3 percent processing fee will be added to credit card purchases.
- Attend the Consignors and Buyers Preview Party on November 8 at 5 p.m. in the sale horse stalling area—located in the Multi-Purpose Building across from the entrance to the John Justin Arena—as well as the Consignors and Buyers Reception at 5 p.m. on sale day. Both free events are sponsored by Farnam and give you a chance to see the horses before the sale and network with other sellers and buyers.
- During the sale, don’t be shy! Make sure a bid spotter can see you.
- Not looking to buy? No problem! Watch the Farnam Stakes classes on November 7 and 8 and attend the reception, preview and sale to check out some top stock coming down the line for future competition. You might even spot a sibling of a consigned horse performing in the Stakes classes.
- Stop by the Farnam booth in the Colors of the Season Gift Show to thank them for their generous support and to talk with a Farnam representative to discuss your horse- and pet-care needs.
- If you’re the lucky purchaser of one of the quality Yearling Stakes Session horse, get to know him and come back in future years to compete in the Farnam Stakes classes for 2-, 3- and 4-year-old horses.
