Raining Paints in the 2014 Reichert Color Classic
Paints reined supreme in the 2014 Reichert Celebration’s 2-Year-Old Color Classic Western Pleasure classes by taking the top placings in both the Limited and Open divisions.
In the Open, held August 29 in Fort Worth, Texas, Carly Veldman Parks rode Scenery to the win. RJ King on Got Good Sensations took second.
On August 30, the judges swapped Scenery and Got Good Sensations with RJ coming out on top and Carly taking second.
Scenery, a 2012 sorrel overo mare by A Scenic Impulse and out of Miss Hottie, was bred by Tim Snapp of New Carlisle, Ohio. “Ginger” is a fourth generation product of Tim and Cindy Snapp’s breeding program. Wade Parks, Carly’s husband and training partner in Colbert, Georgia, competed with Miss Hottie as well as her dam—Ginger’s granddam—Zipmiss.
“They’re all so sweet and loving,” Cindy said of the line. “I started Ginger—I was the first one on her. She was just so easy, very quiet. When we sent her to Wade and Carly, they just seem to really love her.”
Carly had great confidence in Ginger’s potential and says the young mare has been easy to bring along.
“I knew she was a good enough horse because she’s amazing. I just wanted to do her justice,” Carly said.
Got Good Sensations, a 2012 red roan overo mare by Zippos Sensation and out of Good Miss Winnie (QH), was bred by Simons Show Horses LLC and is owned by Ali Eidson of Tuscola, Texas. RJ says “Willow” has been easy to train. After placing second in the Open, RJ says the mare focused better during the second night in the John Justine Arena.
