NSBA World Show Sees Increase in Over Fence Entries on Final Day

TULSA, Okla.- The National Snaffle Bit Association jumped into the final day of its World Championship Show experiencing a 22 percent increase in entries for its over fence classes. Saturday, NSBA hosted an AQHA and Special Event Over Fences show, and the final day of the world show featured NSBA World Show classes along with an AQHA Special Event held concurrently.

“This was our first time to compete here, and we weren’t sure what to expect,” said Bennie Sargent, whose wife Cheryllee competed in Amateur events. “It is a great place to show, and especially to bring young horses to experience a big show atmosphere.”

“We are so pleased that NSBA has included over fence classes at the World Show and also within their dual-approved and point structure,” said David Miller. “It gives us and our customers an additional place to show, and we love it.”

One of this year’s first-time exhibitors in the over fence classes as a ten-year-old girl spectators and end gate grooms referred to as “the little girl in pig tails.” Acey Pinkston, of Alice, Texas, earned two world champion titles in NSBA Youth Working Hunter and NSBA Youth Hunter Hack with Hello Darlin. “I’ve been riding hunters for about two years,” she said. “I went to visit one of my friends, and she was taking jumping lessons, so I went with her. I decided I wanted to do it too.” Pinkston shows under the guidance of David Miller and Scott Jones.

Although she may be new to over fence classes, Pinkston is a tough cowgirl with a lot of experience in the winner’s circle. She is a multiple year Texas state youth rodeo high point and finals all around winner, competing in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying and Straights.
