The halter industry lost a legend on August 8 when Mr. Yella Fella was euthanized at age 19 due to complications of an orthopedic condition.

“Yella” had a successful show career included 2 AQHA World Championships, a Reserve World Championship, several World Show Top Tens, and 2 PHBA World Championships.  He was also a successful sire with 385 point-earners with over 15,000 points, 31 World Champions, 25 Reserve World Championships.  He also sired point earners with the Palomino Horse Breeders of America, the International Buckskin Horse Association, and the Barrel Futurities of America.

He was owned by Gary and Linda Gordon of Fossil Gate Farms, who purchased him in 2004.  The 1995 palomino stallion was bred by Greg and Mary Whalen, and  by Page Impressive and Let’s Skip Town.

I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Yells Fella. He made a huge impact on those who loved horses with some colour. A repeat AQHA World Champion he was the sire of many more champions. So sad to see a great one gone but I’m sure he’s pretty happy watching his mares and babies from above in the most perfect of green pastures.
