Congratulations to Reining by the Bay Paints

Since 1999, Reining by the Bay has brought top reining competition to the Horse Park at Woodside, drawing competitors from around North America to this California show. This year, many Paint Horses earned top placings in the July 23–27 competition.

In the Non-Pro Futurity, Stylish N Smokin and Brandon Boyle placed third overall and second in the Intermediate Non-Pro Futurity. The 2011 sorrel overo mare by Colonels Smokingun and out of Stylish N Spooky (QH) is owned by Mike and Barbi Boyle of Ione, California. The team took home more than $3,300 for their efforts.

Purchased by his parents last year, Stylish N Smokin is actually Mike’s reiner—Brandon says he “stole” the mare from his dad for the California competition when he came home from college. 

 

“She is the sweetest mare with a huge amount of talent and really just wants to be in your pocket,” Brandon said. “She was a rockstar for me at Reining by the Bay!”

Premier Diamond and Tish Fappani won the Non-Pro Level 4 Maturity, taking home $2,300. They also won the Non-Pro Slate 2. A 2006 sorrel overo stallion by Like A Diamond and out of Sexy Chexy Nic (QH), Premier Diamond is owned by his rider, who is from Scottsdale, Arizona.

“Premier Diamond is a special horse to me; he has been part of our family for four years now,” Tish said. “He is a horse I always look forward to showing and have so much fun on. He was very good for me at the maturity at Reining by the Bay. He’s getting better and better with age.”

In the Open Futurity, Baileys Mudslide and Tanya Jenkins placed ninth. A 2011 sorrel solid stallion by Colonels Nite Special and out of Chic Olena Starbuck (QH), the horse is owned by Ron and Toni Lenhert of Apple Valley, California.
