The Morning After: 2014 PHBA World Championship Show Comes to a Close
Contributed by Melinda Davison
The final 2014 world champions were crowned Sunday in Tunica, Mississippi, as the 2014 Palomino Horse Breeders of America came to a close. Over 85 new world champions emerged from the 12-day period, in everything from western pleasure to working cow horse.
This year’s World Show offered a few new events like ranch horse pleasure and cattle classes which were very well received. In addition to PHBA events, champions were named in several NSBA events like Yearling Longe Line and Senior Hunter Under Saddle.
Once all the events were in the books, the points were tallied up and the 2014 Golden Horses were awarded in their respective divisions.

In addition to competition, there was much fun to be had at the show. Last Tuesday and Thursday, the Amateur Executive Board helped everyone beat the Mississippi heat by throwing an ice cream social which was a huge hit with exhibitors. Three lucky amateurs also received $100 gift cards from Dennard’s Farm Supply. Dennard’s also provided great awards for the Amateur Team Tournament. The Amateur Board also provided free coffee and donuts on several occasions to everyone needing a morning pick-me-up.
