NSBA World Show Offers Ways to Help NSBA Foundation
When the 2014 NSBA World Championship Show show kicks off August 9th, it will not only be about futuries, trophies, and paychecks. There is also a charitable side of the competition that will include activities for the Equestrians with Disabilities Program, and ways for generous donors to help support those in need.
Prior to the show, the NSBA Foundation is accepting grants for equestrians with disabilities to compete at the show through their Sponsor an Equestrian Program. The average cost for a competitor to show is about $600, covering expenses like stalls, entries, and other show fees. The program began in 2010 and has grown from sponsoring 4 riders to 24 in 2013. Some donors choose to sponsor a particular rider by covering the entire cost, but any donation amount is greatly appreciated. To read more about the benefits of this program, visit here. While at the show, the NSBA Foundation will also be accepting donations of tack and show clothing for their Tack Room/Clothes Closet. These donations will are sent to therapeutic riding programs that have riders who compete in Equestrians with Disabilities events. The need is great for gently used show clothing and show tack, and they accept items like show saddles, head stalls, halters, bridle bags, blankets, coolers, and can be new, used, or even items that have been won. Click here to read first-hand accounts of the impact these donations make. For more information on how to donate, visit NSBA.com for a donation form.
The Foundation will also be holding a silent auction August 11-15 featuring donated breedings from top AQHA, APHA, and ApHC stallions for the 2015 season. Breedings purchased through this special event will not only give purchasers a great chance to breed their mare to a top stud, but the money raised will benefit various NSBA Foundation programs including the Trainer Crisis Fund, Heroes on Horses, and Riders with Disabilities. In addition to breedings, there will also be gift baskets and other fun items up for bid. Click here for a preview list of stallions available to bid on. For additional questions and information for interested parties not able to attend the NSBA World Show, stay tuned for upcoming newsletters or contact Rebecca Volkert.
The NSBA Foundation was founded in 2009 as a 501c3 organization to develop programs to not only support NSBA participants but also the entire horse community. All donations to the NSBA Foundations funds their programs and the Foundation. For additional information, please visit NSBAFoundation.org.
