Carl Yamber Honored During NSBA Bridle-Less Western Pleasure at Tom Powers 2014
An emotional Carl Yamber piloted OHK Krymsuns Goodbar, owned by Richard and Betty Carr, to a win in the NSBA Bridle-Less Western Pleasure class at the 2014 Tom Powers Futurity, Saturday, June 28. First under all four guest judges – Garth Gooding, Charlie Cannizzaro, Kenny Lakins, Taft Dickerson and Shane Pope – Yamber and his fellow exhibitors competed bridle-less to raise money for the NSBA Trainer Crisis Fund. The Fund was established to provide financial relief to horse trainers facing hardship, disaster or physical illness.
The class was preceded by a calcutta, during which bids were taken on each horse & rider for first, third and fifth placings. Carl Yamber, riding OHK Krumsuns Goodbar, garnered a $10,000 bid. After suffering a stroke and heart attack last fall, Carl seems to have made a strong recovery, as he so expertly executed today’s ride. Yamber was clearly touched by the thunderous applause and cheers following the announcement of each judge’s placings.
A total of $25,150 was raised in the calcutta, one-half originally intended to go to the NSBA Trainer Crisis Fund and the other half back to those who purchased the placings during the auction. In the end, ALL of the proceeds were generously donated to the fund, minus the $10,000 to Carl Yamber, which was given directly to him…
An amazing outpouring of support and generosity was shown by our community; a very heart-warming event, indeed.
