Pine View Farms: Growing, Growing, Growing!
Originally printed in the January issue of Show Horse Today
Our January issue of Show Horse Today is all about looking forward to what we can be excited about in 2014, and Pine View Farm knows a thing or two about excitement and growth! Owned by the Farina family, the talented stallions Invitation Only and Lazy Loper have grown the farm name in the show pen with countless successful offspring, and the young stallion Winnies Willie, owned by Deborah Cook, has begun to make a name for himself as well! This year, The Best Martini, owned by Rhonda and Buddy Malone, joins the three, creating a ‘fearsome foursome’ whose offspring are all sure to dominate in the show pens.
“Pine View Farm basically started out as a small facility with just a few broodmares and plans to raise a couple babies each year,” explains Debbi Trubee, stallion manager. “Mike [Farina] however, is of the nature to do nothing small! Pine View Farm has now morphed into a major breeding facility, standing four stallions for 2014! We have kept our numbers for raising babies to around 20-25 per year. We sell everything that we raise, so that is a manageable, nice number with high expectations that all will be sold in good order to make room for the next year’s foal crop.”
The Farinas have Debbi, Roger Landis and Lauren Erk to help manage the facility and horses. Roger handles the stallions, as well as day-to-day affairs. “Those are his boys!” laughs Debbi. “No one else is allowed to mess with them.” Lauren works as Broodmare Manager, keeping the lovely ladies safe, healthy and happy. Debbi also manages marketing of the stallions, including taking pictures.
The Farina’s purchased “Lazy” in 2003, and he went on to become a two-time Reserve Congress Champion. In 2005, he was crowned World Champion Junior Western Pleasure. That same year, the opportunity to purchase “Invy” came up and Pine View gained another wonderful stallion. Lazy’s first foal crop arrived in 2006, and he became a Congress and World Champion sire in 2008 with his first group of twos. Invy has been the #1 Leading Sire in AQHA for seven years in a row beginning in 2005.
