What to Wear at American Buckskin World Show?
Q. Tammy – I am a select rider who will be showing trail at the American Buckskin world show in July. I have looked and looked for a shirt/jacket to wear that will look nice but not break the bank. I am not showing a lot this year – this will be my only show this year as Reba (my red dun mare) is bred and I want to take it easy on her. I have shown her on the IBHA and ABRA circuit for about four years, and the best we have done is third at the ABRA world in Western Pleasure. I have very nice black rough out custom chaps and nice custom smooth cream chaps. I was thinking of just getting a really nice cotton western shirt and having it tailored (I wear a large/XL – but it’s all up top – with long monkey arms). Maybe in green or copper colors. Do you think this would be appropriate for the World? I see such a variety of styles and most of them are for younger/slimmer women… I wore black and white last year and could wear it again – just wanted some color….Thanks!
Ginny
A. Ginny, for the American Buckskin World Show, my opinion is you can’t go wrong in a black button up shirt and pretty scarf with the black chaps. I think this is a dressy enough look for a world class show without getting into the glitz. This is a smart, clean, attractive look. Good luck to you!
