Ford Youth World Schedule
The tentative schedule for the 2012 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show is now available online.
The American Quarter Horse Journal, April 30, 2012 – The tentative schedule for the 2012 Built Ford Tough American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship Show is now available online. The Ford Youth World, August 3-11 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, features the world’s top youth riders and their American Quarter Horses.
New to the Ford Youth World are free Ride the Rail/Ride the Pattern clinics, which will be taught by AQHA Professional Horsemen. Disciplines featured at the clinics include horsemanship, trail, showmanship, western pleasure, hunt seat equitation, hunter under saddle and working cow horse. A tentative schedule of those clinics can be found here.
At the Ford Youth World, American Quarter Horse Youth Association members will find glory outside of the arena as well. Youth members have the chance to compete in an array of contests; from judging to speech to horse bowl and team demonstrations. Ford Youth World teams will also vie in a team spirit contest. A tentative schedule of contests can be viewed here.
The 2011 AQHYA high point winners will also be awarded at the Ford Youth World. For a complete list of all winners, see the April issue of The American Quarter Horse Journal.
The qualifying period for the 2012 Ford Youth World wraps up on April 30. You can view points necessary to be a national qualifier here.
In February, AQHA announced that affiliates can approve up to six state entries in each class at the Ford Youth World.
However, total affiliate entries still may not exceed 136; this does not include any national qualifiers for the show. Essentially, affiliates have the opportunity to take what would have been “unused” state invitee slots and use them to bring up to six state invitees in a class where they might have more youth wishing to compete. For questions on this, please contact AQHYA at (806) 378-4392.
