Stacy Westfall’s Whizards Baby Doll Passes Away

Heaven’s remuda improved by one fine mare on February 8, leaving this planet one short, with the passing of Roxy (aka Whizards Baby Doll), best known as horsewoman Stacy Westfall’s bareback and bridleless mount. She sustained traumatic injury after apparently becoming cast in her stall sometime during the night of Feb. 5. Roxy was treated for two days at Valley View Animal Hospital in Dover,Ohio, before being humanely euthanized on Feb. 8. Roxy was due to foal in early March, and although a C-section was performed, the little sorrel stud colt proved too weak to survive.
Roxy had a wide and varied career that included becoming the 2nd highest earning offspring of Whizard Jac, who was both NRHA futurity champion and USET champion. She won two All-American Quarter Horse Congress Championships and two Reserve Championships, the NRHA Futurity freestyle championship, and the Tulsa Reining Classic twice, to name just a few.
Roxy’s championship performance in the 2006 All American Quarter Horse Congress, with Stacy riding bareback and bridleless, went viral on the Internet and led to Roxy and Stacy appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Roxy, ever the lady, gave Ellen a memorable ride before appearing before the live studio audience and accepting peppermints from Stacy.
Roxy leaves behind four offspring, all of whom were carried by recipient mares. She will be much missed by owner Greg Gessner, the Westfall family and everyone who valued watching the great trust and love shown between she and Stacy when they performed as one.

I have had horses all my life. My son used to show reining and I loved it. But I show barrels and used to show Pleasure for years. My son did well with the horse reining but has now grown up. He sowed reining withMaggie got 3rd at Ohio State Fairland. I love reining I wish I had the a good horse to do it. Watching the video of 2006 was the most enjoyable to watch moving to me where I just really cried. I also had my dad passaway. I was just amazed of your ability and of course the horse you trained was excellent. You can tell the love you have for them. I look forward to seeing in the future. I also have heard that announcer at Congrss for many years but not the emotion he had in his voice. You are gifted and have been blessed. I am recovering from surgery yesterday so if my message doesn’t make sense, I’m on some meds. Than k you again.
Dear Stacy I am so sorry for your loss. I just read about Baby Doll and even though I am a year to late it breaks my heart to hear the sad news. I had to put my horses down almost 3 years ago and it still hurts. Horses are in my soul. Since I was 5. Its the only place I feel at home and where I belong. You are a terrific woman who rode an outstanding horse and will be missed. Thank you for sharing that video with all of us. I have seen it probably 300 times and it still makes me cry.
stacy….just read about your horses passing…I have a black mare named roxy that looks a lot like your horse.. would love to see someone like you own her and make something of her…nothing in return….. you and roxy had an amazing story…loved the video
