Cowboy Mounted Shooting at Battle in the Saddle
The American Quarter Horse Journal — Make plans now to attend the first-ever American Quarter Horse Association-Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association event during Battle in the Saddle!
Cowboy mounted shooting is one of the fastest growing equestrian sports in the nation. Mounted contestants in this fast-action timed event use two .45 caliber single-action revolvers, each loaded with five rounds of specially prepared blank ammunition.
The second annual Battle in the Saddle, presented by RFD-TV, is going on now at Oklahoma City’s State Fair Park, and it continues through this week and wraps up Saturday, July 9. The admission fee is free.
The CMSA competition will feature a three-stage divisional format with a gender split divisional payback of 50 percent, trophy buckles for all six divisional winners with the top 20 overall returning for the grand finale on Saturday night with the chance to run for $9,000 in added money. In addition, Battle in the Saddle will feature a two-stage rifle event that will also offer CMSA World qualifying points and payback.
