The 2011 Battle in the Saddle at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City is a one-of-a-kind equestrian event that showcases six truly western disciplines. During this year’s Battle in the Saddle, July 5-9, competitors shoot it out in fast-paced, exciting events: ranch horse, barrel racing, working cow horse, roping, cowboy mounted shooting and cutting.
All events are recognized as AQHA special events, with all breeds welcome. American Quarter Horses competing in these events are eligible to receive AQHA points, and it is great opportunity to earn those last few points before the AQHA World Championship Show qualifying period ends July 31. On Friday, July 8, don’t miss Fred Whitfield of Bay City, Texas, as he tries to defend his match- roping title against Ryan Jarrett of Summerville, Georgia.
Competitors can enter by using the Battle in the Saddle paperless, online entry form at battleinthesaddle.com. Complete information is online, including event fact sheets, a complete schedule of events, details about the Family Fun Day on July 9 and special offers for anyone staying at Battle in the Saddle sponsor hotels!
