Heroes On Horses in 2011 NSBA World Championship Show
Riders in NARHA Horses for Heroes programs are invited to participate in a very special event to be held at the 2011 NSBA World Championship Show. NARHA Horses for Heroes assists military veterans through services provided by NARHA members and by providing leadership and guidance for equine assisted activities and therapies. To accomplish this mission, NARHA centers connect with Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and Clinics, as well as individual veterans. Veterans of any age can benefit from the program and by being involved with equines.
The “Heroes On Horses” competition will be held during the NSBA World Show on Saturday, August 20, 2011, with two classes offered:
- Horses For Heroes-Western Walk-Trot-Supported Rider
- Horses For Heroes-Western Walk-Trot-Independent Rider
Riders must be disabled veterans or active duty “wounded warriors” who are participating in NARHA Horses For Heroes programs. The NARHA facility will be responsible for verifying the eligibility of the rider, and horses need not be registered or owned by the rider or facility. Judging will be based 50% on the rider and 50% on the horse, and there will be no fee for participation in these classes.
