12 New All-Around Judges Approved by AQHA

Twenty-two applicants attended the AQHA Judges Qualifying Exam in Amarillo, April 25 – 28, and were tested on 15 live classes, four video classes, participated in four interviews and took several rule book tests. The Judges Committee has reviewed the exam scores and recommended to the AQHA Executive Committee that 12 of the 22 applicants be approved.

Those ultimately approved by the executive committee to be AQHA All-Around Judges are:

  • Sissy Anderson, Leitchfield, Kentucky
  • Tonya Brown, Escondido, California
  • April Devitt, Waddy, Kentucky
  • Melissa Dukes, Weatherford, Texas
  • Lori Gingrich, Newark, Ohio
  • Steve Heckaman, Aubrey, Texas
  • Sylvia Katschker, Austria
  • Brent Maxwell, West Mansfield, Ohio
  • Judd Paul, Xenia, Ohio
  • Kelly Smith, Scottsdale, Arizona
  • Jason Smith, Whitesboro, Texas
  • Richard Spinks, Streetman, Texas

The Judges Committee also reviewed the scores of Specialized Novice Judge applicants who tested on seven video classes, participated in an interview and took a rule book test. Novice judges can judge novice shows, introductory shows and novice classes at any show. Approved as novice judges are:

  • Eric Petersen, Cannon Falls, Minnesota
  • Jennifer Goss, Martinsville, Indiana
